Day [2/3] Character Animation


Today is a day planned for character animation.

It's been a while since I drew a character asset for a game, so I was worried about how long it would take.
But luckily, I had reference sprites from my previous games to help me speed up the process.

The base sprite took me around an hour and a half.
The long part is the animation.

To save time with animation, I drew the character with the body parts split up

this lets me animate the moving parts on their own. This could look awkward close up, but because the game camera is so far from the character, it's barely noticeable.



After drawing parts like arm and leg frame by frame. Other body parts are animated using tween animation


There we have an animated character!

The whole thing took me from around 10~5 with lunch in between. 
I feel like I should've worked on the game more, but I had pre-made plans for the evening so this is all for today.
